Meet our Rabbi

Rabbi Yisrael Baron is a passionate teacher, community builder, and spiritual guide whose life’s work is dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity and connection. He studied at renowned religious academies in Los Angeles and New York, and upon graduating in 1992 began his rabbinic journey with an internship in New Haven, Connecticut.

In 1995, Rabbi Baron received Rabbinic Ordination from the late Rabbi Pinchas Hirshprung and from the Chabad Rabbinate in Israel. A year later, he earned additional ordination as a certified Torah scribe reflecting his deep commitment to Jewish scholarship and tradition.

Driven by a love for people and outreach, Rabbi Baron volunteered with the Jewish Peace Corps and traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean. He also served as a youth counselor and educator in Moscow, Alma Ata, and Samarkand, working with Jewish communities across the former Soviet Union during a pivotal time of renewal and growth.

Since 1998, Rabbi Baron has served as the Spiritual Leader and Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Sunny Isles Beach, where he and his wife, Toby, have built a warm, vibrant, and inclusiv e Jewish community. Together with their six children, they call Sunny Isles Beach home. In addition to his role at Chabad, Rabbi Baron serves as Chaplain for Aventura Hospital and the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department.

Rabbi Baron is known for his engaging classes and thought-provoking writing, which bring timeless Torah wisdom into everyday life in a practical and relatable way. He writes regularly for the local Sunny Isles Beach newspaper and publishes a weekly column in the Chabad of Sunny Isles Beach newsletter, inspiring readers with insight, warmth, and clarity.
